What is Resolume?

Resolume offers many software products. Mainly, when someone is referring to Resolume, they’re either referencing Avenue or Arena. Both Avenue and Arena are used for video layering and effects in live production. In addition to these two playback tools, Resolume also offers Alley and Wire to further expand your media manipulation capabilities.

Avenue vs. Arena

Resolume has two main software offerings: Avenue and Arena. Avenue is the basic version, and Arena is the professional version.
  • Avenue is ideal for basic tasks. These include applying IMAG effects to video signals and playing many files at once. It's a cost-effective starting point.
  • Arena is preferred in churches for its advanced capabilities. These include sending content to many places and content that spans multiple screens. Arena also has external control features, like Artnet.

Key Features of Arena

Arena offers several advanced features that make it suitable for more complex productions.
  • Multiple Destinations: Send content to various locations within your church.
  • Screen Spanning: Slice content to display across multiple screens.
  • External Control: Utilize Artnet for control via lighting consoles.

Alley for Conversion

Alley, along with Avenue and Arena, optimizes content for Resolume. It does this by converting it to the preferred codec.
  • Alley ensures smooth operation and maximizes layer and feature usage.

Resolume Wire

Wire, a newer addition to the Resolume suite, is also installed automatically with Avenue and Arena.
  • Wire allows advanced users to create custom sources and effects.
  • Wire is optional and more suited for users looking to go beyond standard features.
