Patching fixtures in Avolites is the first step in building a lighting show file. A structured approach to patching ensures an efficient workflow, keeping fixtures organized and reducing programming errors. Avolites provides multiple patching methods, allowing users to choose the approach that best fits their workflow.
Selecting and Patching Fixtures
Fixtures are added from the personality library, which contains profiles for thousands of lighting fixtures. After selecting the correct fixture model and mode, users define the quantity, DMX universe, starting address, and user numbers. User numbers help keep fixtures organized, with many users assigning them in blocks (e.g., 100s for spots, 200s for washes). This structure makes fixture selection easier during programming.
Fixture Placement and Organization
Fixtures can be arranged visually in the workspace to match their real-world placement. This provides a quick reference for selecting and controlling lights without relying on fixture numbers. Labeling fixtures consistently and using color-coded legends improves readability, especially for volunteers operating the system.
