Timelines in Avolites provide a flexible way to program and edit timecoded content with greater precision. By visually organizing cues on a timeline, it’s easier to make adjustments, fine-tune transitions, and manage complex lighting sequences for worship services.
Setting Up a Timeline
Timelines are created by selecting “Create Timeline” in the record menu and assigning it to a playback. The timeline interface includes an overview bar for zooming in and out, transport controls for playback and recording, and multiple tracks for organizing lighting cues. Tracks can be categorized by function, such as position, color, and front wash, to keep programming structured.
Recording and Editing Cues
Cues can be recorded live by triggering lighting changes while the timecode track plays. Once recorded, cues appear on the timeline, where they can be moved and adjusted using encoder wheels. Fader levels and fade times can also be modified directly in the timeline to refine transitions and ensure smooth cue execution.
Markers, Playbacks, and Flexibility
Markers can be added to define song sections, making it easier to navigate and adjust cues. Additional playback elements, such as pre-recorded cue lists or fixture values, can be inserted without re-recording timecode. The “Wait for Go” function allows operators to pause automatic cue progression for spontaneous moments, blending timecoded automation with manual control when needed.
