Introduction to ProPresenter

ProPresenter can seem intimidating for any new volunteer. Rusty Anderson covers the basics of how to navigate ProPresenter and he highlights key features to be aware of. Explore ProPresenter in detail and get equipped with the knowledge you need to run ProPresenter effectively at your church.

Interface Layout

The ProPresenter interface has a basic structure consisting of the left, right, and center columns. The left column is the navigation pane where users can select libraries and playlists. In the center, you find the selected content in detail and this serves as the main area of interaction. The right column provides various controls and settings for media and slide output.

Libraries and Playlists

The left side of the screen is crucial for organizing and accessing content. Libraries help organize content into categories such as songs, sermon graphics, and announcements. Libraries can be tailored to different services or events. Playlists can help you arrange media and slides into ‘service flows’ and can be customized for each service. This is sort of like Planning Center’s service flow.

Media Bin

Below playlists, you will find the media bin. This is used to organize all media files. Users can create folders and playlists within the media bin. Media can be imported via drag-and-drop or the file explorer. Organization in the media bin is fully customizable.

Slides

The center portion, where you find the active slide deck, is the main area for managing your slides. Clicking on a slide makes it active and therefore sends the content on that slide to your output(s). Edit mode allows you to modify slide content including media, fonts, colors, and more.

Preview and Clear Controls

On the upper right side, you will find the preview. This allows you to see the outputs and manage active content. The preview displays what is being sent to the screens you have attached. You will also find clear controls here which help you clear specific content layers or everything at once.

Additional Controls

The interface includes several other tools for more control and customization. Some of which are listed below.
  • Transport Control Bar: Manages video playback with options to pause, play, skip ahead, and scrub through content.
  • Audio Bin: Organize and play audio files for pre-show music.
  • Stage Display Controls: Configure layouts for stage displays.
  • Timers and Messages: Set up and run timers and display messages.
  • Macros: Automate complex sequences with single button presses.
