Good Instincts for Video Directing

How do we build good instincts for video directing music during a service? Rusty Anderson gives some practical tips on how to think when you’re directing, and some ways to grow as you continue directing.

Key Points:
  • During Verses, using tighter shots helps the viewer see who is leading, and what direction the worship leader is heading in regards to the song flow.
  • During choruses, using wider shots helps the viewer see that there are more people on stage, and that more people may be singing.
  • It’s helpful to cut back to camera 1 (assuming camera 1 is on the Worship Leader) before they sing so the viewer has time to process who is leading the song.
