Audio routing and object-based mixing capabilities have revolutionized modern sound system control, particularly for houses of worship seeking immersive sound experiences. Sound engineers can now precisely position and control audio sources in a three-dimensional space while maintaining intuitive workflows on digital mixing consoles.
Integrating DiGiCo Consoles with d&b Soundscape
DiGiCo's integration with d&b Soundscape creates a seamless workflow between the mixing console and the spatial audio processor. While not required for basic Soundscape operation, this powerful combination allows worship leaders and audio engineers to control object positioning directly from familiar console controls, perfect for both live and streaming environments.
Network Setup and Configuration
Setting up the integration requires minimal configuration on the DiGiCo console side. Through the External Control menu, OSC communication is established using specific IP addresses and ports. The implementation works through the En-Bridge software, enabling two-way control between the console and DS100 processor. This networked approach ensures reliable communication during live performances and worship services.
Practical Control and Operation
Once configured, sound engineers gain immediate access to spatial audio controls directly from the mixing console's channel strips. Each channel can be assigned to control specific Soundscape objects, with comprehensive control over position, spread, and delay modes. Most importantly, all spatial parameters can be stored and recalled within the console's snapshot system, making it perfect for managing complex worship services with multiple segments.
Advanced Channel Management
The system offers flexible channel mapping between console inputs and Soundscape objects. For larger productions exceeding 64 inputs, careful planning allows for condensed routing schemes where multiple console channels can be mapped to specific objects in the Soundscape interface. This adaptability ensures the system can grow with your production needs while maintaining an organized workflow.
