Are you looking to upgrade your house lights while staying in your budget? Daniel and the DC Pro team talk through retrofitting lights, and what problems you can run into in the process.
Key Points:
Key Points:
- A retrofitted light is a traditional fixture with a screw in bulb.
- Most lights made in the past 10-15 years will most likely not be retrofitted lights.
- Often times the amount of retrofitted modern LED bulbs you can have in a dimmer system will be reduced considerably compared to how many incandescent bulbs were in the chain previously. This is due to the larger power draw.
- Not all bulbs are created equally. It’s important to purchase and test at least two of the same kind of bulbs you’re interested in. This is to make sure the lights match each other before the install.
- Be sure to also test the dimmability of the bulbs you’re interested in before purchasing. Make sure it’s smooth and has a full range of dimming.
