Controlling Lightkey from ProPresenter on Separate Devices

101 Lighting Lighting Console Configuration

Description

When ProPresenter and Lightkey run on different computers, you can still automate lighting changes by setting up a MIDI network session. This is especially helpful when your computers are already separated for graphics and lighting roles, and you want them to communicate reliably over a wired or wireless connection.

Network Setup

  • MIDI Network Session: Use the Audio MIDI Setup on both computers to create and enable a network session.

  • Allow Connections: Set directory permissions to “Anyone” to allow cross-computer MIDI communication.

  • Wired Connection Recommended: Reduces the risk of signal loss or connection drops.

Sending MIDI from ProPresenter

  • Create MIDI Device: Set ProPresenter to send to the Lightkey session and enable auto-reconnect.

  • Build Macros or Slide Actions: Use unique MIDI notes per cue and assign them via macros or directly on slides.

  • Dynamic Song Control: Trigger lighting changes for each song section using slide navigation.
